Sophie’s Universe

One of the most popular CALs I have ever participated in, Sophie’s Universe by Dedri Uys of Look At What I Made.

Being my first project of the kind after a long break from crochet while moving to another country, trying to settle in and exploring other avenues of interest, Sophie’s Universe rekindled my joy of crochet.

It is the perfect beginner’s project (even though you want to be a bit adventurous at times), as it is accompanied with the most detailed instructions with pictures and tutorials. In the meantime, there is even a book dedicated to the project.

I must admit that I used mainly “cheap” acrylic yarn from Spotlight, as I did not value the quality of a yarn as much as I do now. Since the project was huge (for me, at the time) and rather experimental, I used double strands of a simple, soft and shiny acrylic.

Today, I would definitely choose neither that yarn nor the colours, but at the time it was fun to make the blanket bold and colourful.
